Vyacheslav Beresnev

Vyacheslav Beresnev is Chief Ecologist at Leopard Invest, accountable for environmental performance, permitting and regulatory compliance across the group's operations and projects.

He spent most of his career at the Balkhash Copper Smelting Plant, progressing from dust and gas collection through section and shop leadership to Chief Technologist and then Head of Environmental Protection, and later led environmental protection and sustainable development functions for the Kazakhmys metallurgical complex and Corporation Kazakhmys.

He was an engineer in the project group that built the pilot hydrometallurgical processing plant for crude copper concentrates at Zhezkazgan, and subsequently headed environmental protection for Kartsement and CentralAsiaCement. Trained as a metallurgist and power engineer, he combines a working command of Kazakhstan's environmental legislation with extensive experience engaging government bodies and communities, and has been recognised with the 'Best in the Field of Ecology' award.
