Dmitry Zakharyan

Dmitry Zakharyan leads Karkara Resources and brings nearly two decades of hydrometallurgical process engineering to the NSMT platform. He graduated with honours as an engineer in chemical technology from Yaroslavl State Technical University and is completing doctoral research at the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Technology.

Before his current role he was Chief Engineer of the project group building the ore-processing plant at the Koktenkol deposit for Leopard Invest, and previously served as section foreman and process engineer at the pilot hydrometallurgical plant of Kazakhmys Smelting in Zhezkazgan, where he took part in commissioning and in the industrial implementation of hydrometallurgical processing of crude copper concentrates.

His applied research — carried out with KazHydroMed, VNIPIpromtekhnologii and other institutes — covers nitric-acid leaching of sulphide concentrates, sorption recovery of copper, rhenium and silver from productive leach solutions, and electrowinning of copper and silver. He is co-author of numerous peer-reviewed papers and a Eurasian patent on metal leaching from sulphide raw materials.
